The YES Network cameras panned over to the Nets bench several times after Mikal Bridges hit a big shot against the Miami Heat and you could tell his new teammates were feeling the vibes he was putting out there.Bridges' signature celebration - one he borrowed from San Diego Padres' star Manny Machado - had quickly caught on as Nets players were seen smiling and flashing the "finger point."

One of the key pieces in the deal that sent Kevin Durant to Phoenix last week lit up the Barclays Center and the Miami Heat Wednesday night in Downtown Brooklyn.Mikal Bridges scored a career-high 45 points, including 15 in a row during a blistering fourth-quarter stretch, as the Nets went into the annual All-Star break with a heartening 116-105 victory over Miami in front of a sellout crowd of 17,963 on the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush.

The Nets battled back from an 18-point deficit, but the Atlanta Hawks broke Brooklyn's heart in the end with a 129-127 win on Sunday afternoon.

It was almost poetic.Here were the Nets, who trailed by as many as 18 in Sunday's loss to the Hawks in Atlanta, figuring out how to close games now that their superstars are gone - only for a superstar on the other end to put the nail in the coffin.After Cam Johnson nailed a three to tie the game at 127 apiece, Hawks star Trae Young drove the lane, pump faked and threw up a floater that left his hands just in time and swished through the net at the buzzer to lift the Hawks to a 129-127 victory in Atlanta.

"The Beard" did the Nets in.Despite a furious fourth-quarter comeback in Philadelphia Wednesday night, the Kevin Durant-less Nets had their modest two-game winning streak snapped when James Harden took control late in the fourth quarter.Harden scored eight of his 23 points over the final four minutes to thwart Brooklyn's bid for a winning road trip, leading the 76ers to a 137-133 triumph over the Nets in front of 19,772 fans at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Bruins will close out their New York road trip Thursday when they take on the Rangers.Boston beat the New York Islanders on the front-end of its back-to-back Wednesday at Barclays Center, and the Black and Gold will hope to win their fourth-straight game when they travel to Madison Square Garden.

The Nets are trying to remain afloat without Kevin Durant.They sank again Tuesday night in San Antonio, and Kyrie Irving wasn't even available to throw them a life preserver.Irving was a late scratch with calf soreness and the Nets lost their third in a row since Durant went down with a sprained right MCL, dropping a 106-98 decision to the Spurs in front of 13,532 fans at the AT&T Center.

The hottest team in the NBA refuses to cool off.Even with their best player sidelined for at least a month.Kevin Durant's absence is not going to derail an ever-blossoming season in Downtown Brooklyn for the Nets, who went back to work Wednesday at the HSS Training Center in Sunset Park ahead of Thursday night's showdown with NBA-leading Boston at the Barclays Center.

Is another significant winning streak on the table in Brooklyn?The NBA's schedule-makers would like to have a word.If there's anything the Nets proved through their 12-game winning streak, their 12-1 stretch in the month of December and a 16-1 span leading into Wednesday's loss to the Chicago Bulls, it's this.
