On The Red Carpet has an exclusive clip to share from an upcoming episode, featuring 15-year-old Abayomi Lewis. The Haitian singer and poet is a young performer with an old soul from the Bay Area. Lewis attributes her success to her mother, who signed her up for a poetry competition in ninth grade, and the powerful women in her family. 'My grandmother has always been telling me ever since I was little, 'I have to see you on that TV,' Lewis explains.

"I applied. I auditioned for it, but I made up my own audition because I've always wanted to do it. because I love it musically, It's the best song. Musically, it's so special. I actually have always wanted to do this, and I recorded a little demo, just me singing with the Rhodes and sent it to Roc Nation. I've been told Jay-Z loved it, and it got Goodell and they all said that I could do it,"

"That was new to me, that a director took that time that early in the process to get to know the people who he's auditioning, which I thought was brilliant because he really gets to know you and you get to know him. It's a mutual testing of each other. And I had a really lovely conversation with him that made me feel very safe and respected, and I think that affected the way the audition went, to be honest."

There are so many people who deserve to have this kind of life who don't, but I think I'm comfortable with not deserving it and doing it anyway...It's OK to be made fun of when you're in rarefied air. It's a lucky place to be.

Fortunately, the job didn't affect their friendship. The actors actually moved in together as Overstreet was going on the "crazy Glee ride," Powell said, adding that it was "wild" to see one of his "best friends in the world" step into such a massive spotlight. "Because it was also, like, the biggest show in the world. I don't think a lot of people remember that."
