On Christmas Day, just before midnight at 11.27pm, emergency services responded to Wilfred Drive in Darnall after a 20-year-old man was reported to have been shot in his chest. The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical, life-threatening condition. Following the incident, detectives immediately began working at pace to understand the circumstances and quickly had four men arrested in connection to the incident.

Authorities said the violence stemmed from a fight between both 12-year-olds just before 3 p.m. inside Betsy Head Park, near Thomas S. Boyland Street and Dumont Avenue in Brownsville. NYPD officers arrived to find the victim with a stab wound to his chest, and first responders took him to Brooklyn University Medical Center in critical but stable condition, according to officials.

Police are investigating whether the man accused of trying to kill 10 people during the Huntingdon train attack is linked to a string of knife incidents in the hours before the bloody rampage. Anthony Williams, 32, was charged on Monday morning with 10 counts of attempted murder after an attack on an LNER train to London King's Cross on Saturday evening.

Odyssey Head, 27, was taken into custody Monday and initially charged with arson, burglary, criminal mischief and criminal trespass for allegedly setting a fire in an apartment building in the Flatbush Gardens complex on New York Avenue on Sunday morning, officials said. Police said no one was injured during that incident and they are investigating if Head had any connection to the building.
