There are signs of community pushback online to UOVO's proposed plan, with a circulating open letter addressed to a Brooklyn zoning board raising concern over the effects of developing such a large commercial area in an area that has experienced extensive residential displacement.

Although the area has been historically occupied by warehouses, some community members are contesting the project, arguing that it will exacerbate an existing housing shortage in the neighbourhood and contribute to increasing rental costs, among other concerns.
