What makes this canopy special isn't just that it uses 3D printing technology, though that's certainly impressive. It's the way the designers thought about the entire system. Rather than simply throwing a roof over the tombs and calling it a day, they created what's essentially a climate-control system disguised as architecture. The canopy features a double-layer envelope that does way more than keep rain off ancient stone. Built into this roof are ventilation and air extraction components that actively regulate temperature and humidity.

Palestinian architect Suad Amiry has been awarded the 2025 Great Arab Minds Award in the Architecture and Design category. Founder and director of the Riwaq - Centre for Architectural Conservation, Amiry was recognised for her long-standing work in documenting, preserving, and reusing Palestinian architectural heritage through conservation practices that link historic structures with contemporary community needs. Her approach positions architecture as both a repository of collective memory and an active social framework, emphasising the role of heritage in everyday urban and rural life.

Donald Judd's architecture office in Marfa will reopen this month after a seven-year restoration. The building caught fire in 2021, less than one month before what was originally a three-year renovation was due to be completed, partially collapsing the roof and parts of the top floor. The $3.3m restoration of the two-floor brick building began in 2018 as part of the Marfa Restoration Plan, a project to restore six sites under the stewardship of the Judd Foundation.
