Last year, I wrote that you do not need a black Apple Watch Ultra 2. It was simply a color refresh, I said. The original Apple Watch Ultra on your wrist was still perfectly fine. The landfills of the world were better off without Apple's first-gen ruggedized smartwatch filling it. Also, suggesting that you spend another $800 just because it looked sick as hell (I mean, looketh at these photos) isn't great advice.

Apple keeps strict pricing on their own website and in Apple Stores, so it's a complete waste of your time checking there for deals. But Amazon just dropped the Ultra 2 to $599 for Black Friday, down from $799, which marks a record low and saves you $200 on Apple's most rugged wearable. This 25% discount is the deepest cut this watch has ever seen.

I've worn my Ultra 2 almost continuously for two years. It's been banged, smashed, soaked, baked, and frozen. Apart from a few small superficial scratches, it's still going strong.
