STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - A slow-moving coastal storm will bring potentially dangerous flooding to Staten Island and the broader New York City area, with conditions expected to worsen through Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service. Brian Hurley, a meteorologist with the Weather Prediction Center, said coastal flooding poses the greatest threat from the storm system, with inundation levels reaching 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet above ground level in the most vulnerable waterfront areas during high tide cycles late Sunday night and Monday afternoon.

The twisted Staten Island teen accused of killing his mother's boyfriend allegedly gave a full, gory confession - including that he planned to liquify the body in a blender and flush it down the toilet, starting with the brain, law-enforcement sources said. Damien Hurstel, 19, allegedly calmly admitted to cops at the NYPD's 120th Precinct that he fatally bludgeoned Anthony Casalaspro, 45, over the head with a meat tenderizer because he wanted to know what it was like to kill someone, sources told The Post.
The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. as fire personnel responded to a report of a smoking manhole at Richmond Avenue and Arthur Kill Road, according to an FDNY spokesperson. Con Edison was notified and the FDNY departed the scene around 4:15 p.m., the spokesperson said. Crews for Con Edison were seen at the intersection investigating the situation that Allan Drury, a spokesman for the utility company, said was likely caused by a failure in the underground power delivery system.
