This week, the France-based ArianeGroup aerospace company announced that it had completed the integration of the Themis vehicle, a prototype rocket that will test various landing technologies, on a launch pad in Sweden. Low-altitude hop tests, a precursor for developing a rocket's first stage that can vertically land after an orbital launch, could start late this year or early next.

The proposed engine for the plane is based on so-called pre-cooler technology, developed over decades by UK aerospace firm Reaction Engines, which went bust in November.

Open Cosmos aims to strengthen Europe’s technological autonomy and enhance connectivity capabilities through the acquisition of Connected, a Portuguese startup specializing in IoT connectivity from space.

ESA has described itself as a reliable and strong partner to NASA, emphasizing the long history of collaboration, despite occasional tensions between the agencies.
