Pokemon Pokopia Companion App Accused Of Stealing From Fansite
"I accidentally left Litter off Snivy and Larvesta a few days ago. This app has that same issue. All images are ripped from my site or using the HOME images (which I used until last week). This is so exhausting. Like it happens here and there with prior launches but due to how Pokopia has gone crazy viral, it's happening in such volume."
"With 200 hours work behind me on it, seeing my work just lifted and, in the case of the app, being used to make money...it hurts. Pokopedia has been shared by some prominent creators who either don't seem to be aware of the accusations being made against the app developer or don't care about Serebii's claims."
Serebii webmaster Joe Merrick documented extensive Pokémon Pokopia information after approximately 200 hours of gameplay and research. A mobile app called Pokopedia subsequently scraped this data to create a companion app for profit. Evidence of the theft includes identical omissions that Serebii initially made, such as missing Litter speciality information for Snivy and Larvesta, and reused images from Serebii's guides. The app has been promoted by prominent creators unaware of or unconcerned with the accusations. Merrick notes this content theft occurs regularly during game launches but has accelerated significantly due to Pokopia's viral popularity, causing widespread unauthorized distribution of his original work.
