Pace Suburban Bus is conducting a feasibility study for a proposed express bus service aimed at enhancing connectivity between the suburbs and Chicago via I-290 and I-88. The project targets commuters seeking faster transportation, with limited stops that ensure reduced travel times and connections to major suburban hubs. Community involvement is crucial, with public meetings and online surveys planned to gather input. The initiative emphasizes accessibility and intends to work in tandem with existing transit options, promoting an affordable, reliable alternative to driving for thousands of residents and workers.
Designed with equity and accessibility in mind, the proposed service aims to integrate with Metra and CTA rail service, allowing riders to transition easily between different modes of public transportation.
Community input will play a vital role in shaping the study's findings, and residents, workers, and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in upcoming public meetings and/or take Pace's online survey.
This study is an important step in identifying ways to improve transit options for suburban commuters," Pace Executive Director Melinda Metzger said.
By leveraging express bus service along I-290 and I-88, we have the opportunity to create a fast, frequent, and more sustainable travel option for thousands of riders.
