'Too much tolerance' to housing objections based on character of area, says Minister Jack Chambers
Briefly

Minister Chambers announced a taskforce to address inefficiencies in the infrastructure delivery system, involving experts from key agencies. The initiative seeks to reform procedures to accelerate project completions, especially for housing. Chambers highlighted the issue of individuals obstructing necessary developments under the guise of preserving area character. He emphasized that such objections undermine public interests and that all reform options must be considered to prioritize infrastructure and housing advancement for societal benefit.
"Anything that can achieve faster and more accelerated infrastructure delivery, has to be on the table," Minister Chambers said.
"I've seen examples in recent months of housing getting stuck because it undermines the character of the area. What does that mean?"
"The last number of years have shown how too many individuals have had too much of a say in impeding infrastructure and housing across our economy."
"We have countless examples across our economy where the public good is being undermined by people... trying to frustrate the broader public good, similar with renewable energy projects."
