This Designer's Maximalist Kitchen Was Decorated for Under $300
Briefly

Monica and her family revamped their kitchen, initially dealing with an obstructive L-shaped island. With a $25,000 budget and additional decor spending of $300, they worked with a contractor to redesign the layout to better suit their family needs. The renovation opened up doorframes and incorporated a custom bar for space optimization. Adding ceiling-high cabinetry provided ample storage, a key improvement for Monica, who appreciated less dusting. The journey underscores the project’s evolution from a few wants to a comprehensive remodel.
The right person for your job is out there. Our contractor is a rare gem! He is so kind and considerate and truly did such a wonderful job of keeping us updated.
We opened up the two doorframes leading into the kitchen to make the space feel even larger. We opted for a bar instead of a table in the eat-in kitchen area.
While I still made the most of my prior gap-cabinets and stored my cake stands and such, they collected so much dust. The added cabinet storage - closed off from dust - is one of my favorite parts of the 'after'.
As with all projects, you start with a few wants, and it can quickly escalate into a major renovation before you know it!
