This $1,200 Makeover Squeezes Dreamy Southern Porch Vibes into a Small Space
Briefly

In the Spring 2025 One Room Challenge, Ashley took on a DIY project to convert her concrete steps into brick ones to enhance her home's entrance. With quotes around $2,500, she decided to do it herself for over $1,000. Inspired by Instagram, she worked with thin bricks and realized the importance of using the proper tools. Additionally, she added a beadboard ceiling, painting it the same color as her door, which was completed quickly. Ashley also refreshed her Adirondack chairs with sanding and staining, showing her dedication to making her front yard a welcoming space.
I've always loved the look of brick and, over the years, got several bids for people to convert my concrete steps to brick but it was soooooo expensive.
I knew in the end it would make things much easier... the right tools are the most important first step!
I didn't have the big porch, but I had an idea that I was eager to try that would help me incorporate that feature.
Over the years, I've changed how I felt about my outdoor space, and wanted to create a front yard that was refreshing and inviting.
