There Are Multiple Magical Reading Nooks in This "Voracious" Reader's NYC Apartment
"It was really important to me that my home felt like a reflection of me. I think social media is great, but I often see different iterations of the same home over and over on there (and lots of white and beige!), and I wanted my space to stand out. Also I'm way too messy for all the white,"
"At the end of the day, I love lounging in the living room because Kim was really able to make it feel cozy and fun, without it feeling old or outdated. One of my goals was to utilize each individual space or room of my apartment as it's meant to be enjoyed, so I wanted my bedroom dark to encourage me not to work in bed!"
A one-bedroom, 1000-square-foot Sutton Place apartment was redesigned to reflect the owner's personality and increase storage. The owner sought a non-cookie-cutter, quirky aesthetic rather than the prevalent white-and-beige palette. Kim Liptak Design worked with contractor Nuza Home Improvement to complete the renovation. The redesign fused old-library warmth with modern elements to accommodate contrasting tastes. The living room was made cozy and fun without feeling outdated. The bedroom was intentionally darkened to discourage working in bed. Moving boxes were cleared and each space was optimized to be used as intended, improving both style and function.
