An installation open until April 3 highlights advancements in eco-friendly construction and temporary living spaces. Built in just over 90 days, it showcases benefits of modular homes designed for the homeless population. Attendees include local councillors and representatives from the building industry. This initiative supports the council's strategy to reduce reliance on hotels, providing safe, self-contained accommodations for families. Councillor Ray Morgon emphasized the importance of these homes in improving living conditions and addressing homelessness effectively. Wates' regional director also noted the rapid construction methods that can lead to quality living environments.
We are committed to addressing homelessness in Havering and modular homes provide self-contained accommodation as a cost-effective solution that not only saves taxpayers money, but will provide better living conditions for those Havering families who require support.
The design is not exactly the same as the proposals we submitted which include a considered design with place-making appropriate for the area. This module aims to demonstrate what is possible in a short time frame.
