Reed Krakoff Is Selling His Amagansett Beach House
Briefly

Reed and Delphine Krakoff repeatedly undertake major house projects, renovating notable properties and moving on after completion. They built a contemporary beachfront residence at 55 Dune Road in Amagansett over five years and listed it for $49.5 million two years after finishing. New York architects Thomas Phifer and Partners designed three glass volumes raised on a concrete platform linked by a concrete passageway, maximizing ocean and native vegetation vistas. A raised path provides direct access to more than 200 feet of waterfront. The house displays contemporary art and design pieces and reflects the Krakoffs' commitment to design rather than quick flipping.
Each time, after making the place absolutely magnificent, they move on. Just don't call Krakoff a house flipper: "I despise that word," he once told the Wall Street Journal. "Design is our life." And so it is with 55 Dune Road in Amagansett, a contemporary beachfront house the couple spent five years building and, two years after finishing the job, have put on the market for $49.5 million.
A few years later, they brought on New York architects Thomas Phifer and Partners to do a very modern house involving three glass volumes raised on a concrete platform and connected by a concrete passageway. Ocean vistas, as well as those of native pine, bayberry and beach plum that surround the house, abound. A raised path leads directly to more than 200 feet of waterfront.
