People's Architecture Office inserts prefabricated plugin structures into Jingdezhen's Imperial Kiln Historic District to adaptively reuse disused porcelain studios. The intervention converts timber-framed workshops and courtyard buildings into contemporary living and working spaces while preserving the original fabric and spatial character. The Plugin Architecture approach focuses on fine-grain interventions within historic courtyards rather than large civic landmarks, reactivating everyday infrastructure of porcelain production. The project coordinates multidisciplinary design teams and consultants for structural and MEP work to ensure compatibility between new prefabricated elements and existing historic construction.
