"The building is organized in a U-shaped configuration, allowing natural light and cross-ventilation while opening views toward the sea from each apartment. At the center of the complex, a landscaped internal plaza planted with native vegetation and bamboo functions as both a social and environmental core."
"The design uses climate and landscape as primary drivers, prioritizing natural ventilation, shading, and daylight to support thermal comfort and reduce reliance on mechanical systems. Located on a flat site between the ocean and rainforest, the development responds to a humid tropical climate characterized by high solar exposure and frequent rainfall."
"A secondary atrium leads to the Sky Garden, a rooftop terrace designed as a communal landscape. This level includes a multifunctional pavilion used for events and wellness activities, extending shared space upward while providing views across the Atlantic Forest and coastline."
Bambu Atmosfera is a 50-unit residential complex in Ubatuba designed by Perkins&Will on a flat site between ocean and rainforest. The U-shaped building organization maximizes natural ventilation, cross-ventilation, and daylight while minimizing mechanical system reliance. A central landscaped plaza with native vegetation and bamboo serves as the social and environmental core. Elevated walkways and an open atrium connect building wings and encourage shared space circulation. A rooftop Sky Garden with multifunctional pavilion extends communal areas upward. The 6,000 sqm program spans five floors with 50 apartments ranging from 62 to 110 sqm, featuring flexible layouts and comparable spatial quality across unit sizes. Ground-level garden units and common areas integrate landscape and community functions.
