Proposals have been submitted for a four-storey rear extension to the former Scottish Mutual House, aiming to create seven new flats. The extension comprises two one-bedroom, four three-bedroom, and one four-bedroom units. The building has previously been converted into 20 residential flats. An additional five flats are set for construction in an upper-floor extension by April 2026. The planning statement indicates that the rear site offers an opportunity to expand while maintaining current residents' amenities, with added bicycle storage proposed alongside parking retention at the front.
Plans have been submitted for seven new homes at the back of a former office block in Hornchurch, consisting of two one-bed, four three-bed and one four-bed units.
The former office building, Scottish Mutual House, has already been converted into residential flats, with 20 homes now rented out by the applicant after a prior approval application granted by Havering Council in 2021.
Seetha Creations claims it offers a "tremendous opportunity" to add to the building while safeguarding the amenity of existing flats.
No change to the appearance of the building at the front will occur, as the existing structure is five-storeys tall, and the extension will be four-storeys tall.
