A former railway warehouse within the Qingshuihe Railway Relics area is transformed into a contemporary exhibition space shaped by lightness, transparency, and layered spatial relationships. The project sits between an active railway line and an urban roadway, using the site’s density and proximity as a defining spatial condition. The original warehouse structure could not take additional loads, so a “structural cluster” strategy was developed. New stairs, walls, rooms, and circulation components are installed as independent structures beneath the existing roof, each supporting only itself and remaining structurally separate from the original framework. The result is a set of lightweight, juxtaposed structural systems that collectively function as an exhibition environment while preserving spatial separation. Transparency is achieved through layered wall openings using opaque, translucent, and transparent materials adjusted for privacy, daylight, ventilation, viewing, and scale.
