Inglis Hall, a kitchen maker in East Sussex, has gained attention for its ability to fuse traditional craftsmanship with modern design. Founded by Toby Hall, the company excels in creating bespoke timber features. One standout project is a kitchen in a grand 17th-century manor that serves a large social family. Designed by Peter Spence, it reflects both the property’s historical character and the clients’ vibrant lifestyle through a unique color palette, ensuring it is a functional and inviting center of family gatherings.
The kitchen is a hub of activity and certainly the most crucial space in this residence, with rarely less than a dozen for dinner each night, says Peter Spence.
We were keen to produce a design that was sympathetic and fitting for the property, and yet truly represented the individual character of our clients, he continues.
While the cabinets and materials are traditional, the palette chosen for the room—a surprising mix of drabware hues and bright dashes of color—feels fresh and full of personality.
For all of the paints on this project, we worked with our good friend Simon Marchand, from Marchand Son here in Lewes, says Peter.
