During wet weather, slugs emerge to feed on plants causing damage by eating holes in leaves, stems, flowers, tubers, and bulbs with their slimy mucus, says Rob Clarke.
Adding copper tape around plants gives slugs a small electrostatic shock, deterring them without causing harm, according to John Stewart.
