The Fab Lab, measuring 8x14 feet, is equipped with non-messy desktop fabrication gear, whereas the messy tools are in a separate workshop. The room has six wall sockets supporting four servers, seven 3D printers, and a laser cutter, but it struggles with power allocation due to the house's odd electrical layout. Each socket is connected to different circuits, complicating the identification process. The main concern is the capacity, as running all equipment on a single 15A circuit is insufficient. A circuit finder tool is utilized to map connections and capacities effectively.
I wanted to find out how much power was going into the room because it supports four servers, seven 3D printers, and a laser cutter.
I found a cool tool in the Klein 80016 Circuit Breaker Finder that helped me answer those questions.
The Fab Lab has six wall sockets, but I had no idea what wall socket went to what circuit.
I was concerned about trying to run it all on one 15A circuit, which is not enough juice for all that gear to run at once.
