facade of repurposed wood fronts multi-generational house in uthai thani, thailand
Briefly

Uthai Thani House, designed by I Like Design Studio, merges modern living with traditional Thai aesthetics to create a harmonious family environment. The owner, raised in Uthai Thani, intended to return to her family roots while accommodating her father's preference for a simple, nature-oriented lifestyle. The architecture reflects both generations' needs, featuring a modest living area optimizing natural light and ventilation, and a large Thai kitchen for family cooking. This innovative design beautifully reconciles the past and present, ensuring the family can live comfortably together.
The design of Uthai Thani House harmonizes modern living with traditional values, accommodating both the owner's contemporary tastes and her father's preference for simplicity and nature.
The architects faced the challenge of merging distinct lifestyles—one rooted in traditional wood-based design and another embracing modernity—into a cohesive and functional family home.
