East Williamsburg steel mill transformed into spa, studios
Briefly

BENCH ARCHITECTURE has successfully transformed a former steel mill in East Williamsburg into a vibrant members' club, spa, and artist studio space. The eight-story building features modern amenities, including a rooftop pool and dedicated event spaces, while maintaining its industrial roots with cinderblocks and concrete in artist areas. The design philosophy aims to seamlessly integrate work, recreation, leisure, and wellness to better serve the community's needs in a way that was previously overlooked, facilitating a unique experience that embraces both functionality and aesthetics.
The project goal [...] is to bring elements of work, recreation, leisure, and wellness together in a way that isn't currently done well or on a proper scale.
The conversion of the former steel mill retains its industrial character while integrating modern amenities like a rooftop pool and event venues.
