A Vida Portuguesa, founded by Catarina Portas, emphasizes the rich storytelling behind Portuguese objects through its various emporiums. The latest store, Depozito, launched in partnership with contemporary artisans, celebrates both tradition and modern creativity. Housed in a historic warehouse, Depozito features a diverse array of items from traditional textiles to contemporary ceramics, reflecting the evolution of Portuguese craftsmanship. Portas believes that these objects represent a shared identity and narrative within society, making them both genuine and meaningful.
We believe objects can tell extraordinary and revealing stories. About a people and its particular taste, about a society and its context, about a history which is, after all, a common identity.
Depozito is a celebration of tradition and its reinvention.
Depozito is housed in a preserved old industrial space. This one is a 400-square-meter former warehouse "fundada en 1913" as the front tile mural says.
The shelves display the work of Portuguese contemporary ceramic artists Clementin Atelier, Não Sou Rita, hOmem, and Vicara.
