The article showcases a terraced property at No 23 Brian Boru Avenue in Clontarf, Dublin, asking €495,000. Originally built in 1907 for tram workers, it was home to a large family in 1911, illustrating the cramped living conditions of the time. Current owner Dinah McCarthy highlights the extensive renovations they've made since purchasing in 2019, transforming the space while retaining its charm. The property's bright interior and quiet cul de sac location are major draws for lifestyle-conscious buyers seeking proximity to Dublin's amenities.
"Since that time, an extension, a mezzanine level bedroom and a bathroom have been added, but back then there was just one bedroom," adds current owner Dinah McCarthy.
"I don't know how they all fitted into the house," says Dinah McCarthy, referencing the historical families that once lived in the cramped space.
"It's also particularly bright, which appealed to us," Dinah McCarthy notes about the house's appeal in comparison to other cottages.
"Luckily, my husband is very handy and I love interiors, so we knew we could put our own stamp on it," says Dinah McCarthy about renovation plans.
