"If I placed it in that location, the landmark would be restored, and I could offer it a kind of act of healing and love to this community. Ken decided to resurrect the Round Barn on land above their upper vineyard not useful for most other purposes, viewing the reconstruction as both a restoration of a cherished icon and a meaningful gesture to help the community recover from the devastating fire."
"Like thousands of others, the couple felt the loss of that community landmark deeply. In the early stages of rebuilding his own property, Ken, whom Melissa describes as a dreamer steeped in the history of that corner of Sonoma County, decided to resurrect the Round Barn as part of his personal recovery and community contribution."
Ken Moholt-Siebert, a Santa Rosa architect whose home was destroyed in the 2017 Tubbs Fire, has spent five years reconstructing a precise replica of the Fountaingrove Round Barn, a beloved community landmark also lost in the fire. Located on a hillside above his vineyard on Old Redwood Highway, the project serves as an act of healing and love for the community. With the barn nearing completion and funds depleting, Ken and his wife Melissa, a winemaker, are seeking community support to finish the project by summer's end. They are organizing fundraising events, including a pizza night at Homerun Pizza on March 4 and a community gathering on March 7, to help complete the reconstruction.
