"“The hallway felt like a missed opportunity,” says interior designer Justine Guillermou about her client's family home. “It was neutral, forgettable, and didn't set the tone for the house at all.” As founder of Rainbow Shaker, a London-based interior and set design company, Justine is all about bringing unique joy to a home and creating “expressive, color-forward spaces.”"

A hallway that felt neutral and forgettable was redesigned to add personality and improve function. Under the stairs was reworked to create better storage, turning awkward dead space into useful family space. The staircase and entryway were treated as the first visual impression, aiming to create an instant mood lift and signal the home’s joy and movement. Instead of replacing the staircase at very high cost, geometric stair riser decals were digitally designed and printed on commercial-grade vinyl to add color and energy.
