"It was a stressful time even though it was an amicable breakup,"
"I had two weeks to move and was desperate to find something."
"It was the first time I had lived on my own in a long time and it was nice to listen to my own instincts,"
"The cats very much informed the color scheme. I find them so handsome; it felt like having matching furniture was practical."
Jeffrey Hamilton, a 38-year-old anesthesiologist, moved into a two-bedroom, two-bath Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects condo in West Hollywood after an amicable but stressful breakup that required a two-week move. The largely empty, gallery-esque unit was furnished primarily with secondhand finds from Facebook Marketplace. Hamilton shares the home with his boyfriend David Poli and three rescue pets: Bengal cats Romulus and Remus and Poli's Husky mix Janeway. The rescued animals heavily influenced material and color choices, prompting durable, hair-concealing textiles and a camel Curvo velvet sofa from Goop for CB2, plus swivel chairs from HD Buttercup and coordinated barstool upholstery.
