"I just wanted it to be functional and more colorful,"
"We had to demolish the space entirely,"
"We opened up the right wall that connects the kitchen to the living room, which made a massive difference in how the space felt."
"We had to figure out how to reroute pipes and remove that giant column on the left side of the kitchen to flatten that back wall. I went back and forth a lo"
Bri and Denver renovated a 200-square-foot, outdated kitchen during the Spring 2024 One Room Challenge. They demolished the space entirely and opened the right wall to the living room to improve flow. The new layout shifted appliances to the left wall, placing the sink in front of the window, the stove at the back, and a more accessible refrigerator. The redesign transformed the area into a hosting space rather than a break-room kitchen. Real estate agent Lorie helped design the layout, and Denver's father assisted with rewiring, painting, tiling, and building. The project required rerouting pipes and removing a structural column, causing setbacks.
