Pierce & Ward Added a Nook for Landline Calls and a Shelf for Grammys in This Laurel Canyon Home
""For us, it's all about comfort and coziness," says Pierce, a mindset reflected in a forest-inspired palette. "If you don't like green, do not call us," Ward says, before adding—"Or brown.""
"The duo's finely tuned eye for color informed the house's open-plan living area, conceived as a series of interconnected nooks—one for mixing cocktails, another for gathering with friends."
Tyler Johnson and Lindsay Marias sought to renovate a midcentury ranch in Laurel Canyon, reminiscent of their Colorado roots. They contacted designers Emily Ward and Louisa Pierce to restore the home's character, which had been lost in a previous renovation. The designers focused on creating a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, utilizing a forest-inspired color palette. The open-plan living area was designed with interconnected nooks for various activities, emphasizing a blend of California sensibility and mountain warmth.
