More than one million people living on building sites due to delays, says Direct Line
Briefly

According to the Direct Line Insurance Group, over 1.2 million homeowners are currently living in stalled renovation projects, leading to significant safety and mental health concerns.
Almost half of the homeowners affected by stalled renovations (49%) worry about safety hazards in their unfinished homes, while 58% regret starting these projects due to stress.
The leading cause of halted renovation projects is financial; with 31% of homeowners running out of money and 28% facing unmanageable cost increases, resulting in abandoned work.
The severe impacts of incomplete renovations include forcing homeowners into temporary accommodation and creating uninhabitable conditions, like limited cooking capabilities and messy outdoor spaces.
