Leonora Hamill, a London-based designer known for eclectic style and historical references, began a three-year project with a young couple who wanted to change as little as possible in their newly acquired 1878 Victorian Gothic brownstone. An initial unexpected video call led to a collaborative friendship and immersive design process. Hamill introduced mood boards and influential designers—Renzo Mongiardino, Federico Forquet, and Henri Samuel—to shape the clients’ sensibilities. The five-story single-family residence retained many original details, which informed a restrained yet inventive approach focused on period layering, pattern, and thoughtful object selection.
