""It had badly stained carpet, beige EVERYTHING, and zero personality," Natalie says of the space. It also had some quirks: a double-doored entry to the laundry room, plus three separate closets on the opposite wall."
"Once hardwood was installed in a chevron pattern, Natalie set her sights on the custom built-ins. She designed them herself, while her builders pieced them together."
"The look-at-me hue (Sherwin-Williams' Hyper Blue) was a tough call for Natalie. "I changed my mind on it up until the very morning it was painted," she says."
A bland beige living room was transformed into a colorful, eclectic space by designer Natalie Papier. After moving from Chicago to North Carolina, she found her new home lacking personality with stained carpets and beige decor. To create a more functional and inviting environment for her children, she removed old carpeting and closets, replacing them with ceiling-high custom built-ins. The bold electric blue paint added vibrancy, showcasing the family's books and mementos against the striking color.
