A "Closed-Off" Living Room Becomes a Bright, Dreamy Oasis
"This was the first room we removed wallpaper from. There was also a wall separating this room from the kitchen making the space feel very closed-off."
"Neither of us really love the idea of a fully open concept home, but between these two rooms was the perfect amount. We'd be able to see our kids playing while we'd be making dinner."
"I am now an expert in a dozen different ways to remove wallpaper and can paint a room faster than you can say 'go.'"
"Two rounds of demolition made the biggest difference in the space."
Homeowners Sarah and Joel Blumer renovated their living room by removing dated wallpaper and painting the walls and fireplace white for brightness. They knocked down a wall separating the kitchen and dining room to improve flow. The couple aimed for a balance between open-concept living and maintaining some separation, allowing visibility of their children while cooking. Joel added symmetry to the fireplace by laying additional bricks. The renovations significantly enhanced the room's overall feel and functionality for their family.
