A '70s Kitchen With Yellow Wood Cabinets Transforms into an Airy Space with a Touch of Craftsman Charm
Briefly

Designer Samantha Tosti reimagined a 1978 California kitchen for a client who found the existing space cramped and poorly laid out. The kitchen, filled with excessive appliances and dated cabinetry, hindered entertaining and daily use. Tosti's redesign aimed to create a bright and spacious atmosphere while accommodating the homeowner's collection of unique items. The project involved a complete overhaul to enhance functionality without overcrowding the space, aligning it with her client's lifestyle and personality, ensuring practicality and aesthetic appeal in the final design.

When I first got to this home, the kitchen had three different espresso makers, glasses for absolutely every occasion, and multiple drawers devoted to the art of Tupperware.
The kitchen felt small, dark, and claustrophobic. Nothing operated well, from the layout to the actual cabinetry.
The goal was to create something that felt big and bright and happy yet didn't feel overcrowded with built-ins and cabinets.
