"If you're someone who experiences a little slump in the afternoon, this 10-minute yoga practice is something you can do to get a boost of energy so you can power through the rest of your day. The poses are designed to help when you're feeling a little sluggish and lethargic and need a quick hit of energy to help you make it through instead of reaching for another cup of coffee."
"Stand with your feet hip-distance apart and a little bend in your knees. It's 3 inhales through the nose and 1 big exhalation through the mouth. So inhale, inhale, inhale, and then big exhale through your mouth as you bend forward. As you inhale, reach your arms up, and as you exhale, sweep them down. You can bring a little bounce to your knees. Do that 8 times. On your last exhale, stay down."
The ten-minute practice boosts afternoon energy through a dynamic series of mostly standing poses combining stretching, balancing, and strengthening. The sequence begins with Breath of Joy—three inhales through the nose and one big exhale through the mouth repeated eight times—to immediately invigorate the body and mind. The practice moves into a Standing Forward Bend or Rag Doll with knees bent and options to hold elbows or fingertips and sway for clarity. A slow roll up returns to standing, then the sequence proceeds to the back of the mat for push-up preparation. No props are required, though optional, and no Savasana is included to preserve invigoration.
