To create this sense of all-encompassing darkness, punctuated by small instances of light like celestial bodies, Terra actually removes layers of graphite and watercolor, rather than adding them. This alludes to the importance of what is left behind and the negative space in our cosmic story.
Terra approaches the UFO question from the perspective that our universe is benevolent, giving the existence of other life a mystical quality rather than one of impending threat or danger. Her paintings depict an intriguing view of the metaphors surrounding UFOs.
Spiritually, the work focuses on the idea that in uncertain times, humans tend to look at the vast emptiness above and dream, pondering the possibility of benevolent beings travelling lightyears just to observe us.
