Paris closes magical Olympics that bounced back to former glory - and showed a new way forward for LA

Seven medals, four of them gold, are a wonderful total as athletes gave fans plenty to cheer on.

Sixteen days can feel like an awfully long time. For the athletes and fans who thronged the Stade de France last night, there to bid farewell to an unforgettable Paris Olympics, it certainly felt that way.
