A storm of outrage about the Paris Olympics' opening ceremony took a legal turn Tuesday, with a DJ who performed at the show saying her lawyer is filing complaints over threats and abuse suffered online.
Butch's lawyer stated she had been threatened with death, torture, rape, and faced anti-Semitic, homophobic, sexist, and grossophobic insults.
Critics interpreted part of the ceremony as a mockery of Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper, as the DJ Butch was featured in a halo-like headdress, surrounded by drag artists and others.
Paris Olympics organizers clarified there was no intent to disrespect any religious group, aiming to celebrate community tolerance and diversity, not divide.
