My First AI Skill for My Blog
"You'll notice that none of the above involves AI actually writing for me. Outside of correcting spelling mistakes I made, I don't want to use my tool for that. But both of these could really help me catch things before I publish and just make the final result a little bit better. To build this, I made use of Claude Skills. Skills are persistent instructions that can be used across your entire environment or per project. They're written in simple Markdown and are stored in a particular"
A professional writer with decades of experience prefers maintaining personal voice and does not want AI to write posts. Early experiments used generative AI for two narrow tasks: generating titles and drafting descriptions used as post metadata. Those proof-of-concept tools were not used afterward, but renewed interest focuses on two improvements before publishing. One goal is better spelling and grammar support, including occasional use beyond a Visual Studio Code extension. The larger goal is detecting missing aspects of a chosen topic so omissions are surfaced even if they were intentional. The approach aims to catch issues and refine final results while keeping human authorship. Claude Skills are used to implement persistent, Markdown-based instructions across an environment or project.
