Australia's flag bearer Jess Fox won the women's kayak event in Paris, overcoming the pressure to deliver an exceptional performance, finishing the course in 96 seconds and winning with a lead of one and a half seconds over Poland's Klaudia Zwolinska.
Despite slipping to eighth place before the final, fears surfaced that she might not meet the expectations as the face of the Australian team but Fox displayed excellence, securing the gold medal with a superb run.
