The word on the cover, in this case, was 'joy'—and I was astonished to see just how many pieces came out discussing this word. It made me realize the strong influence of messaging, as well as the manipulative potential it carries in political discourse.
Every day during the convention, it became clearer that nothing was going to be said about the war on Gaza. The Democrats, claiming to be the party of anti-racism, allowed no Palestinian or Muslim American voices during a critical moment of discussion.
