"You get a curated recommendation when you come to the Mysterious Bookshop," says manager Ryan Gilbert. "We hand sell a lot of books, and people are interested in picking up a mystery, but it could be a little daunting..."
The shop, now in Tribeca, maintains a charming ambiance with floor-to-ceiling shelves, wooden ladders, leather sofas, and playful signage: "Nobody shoplifts from a store that knows 3,214 ways to murder someone."
Approaching cozy season, the shop encourages readers to enjoy "The Best Mystery Stories of the Year: 2024," a collection featuring diverse new works selected from over 3,000 submissions.
