The Eiffel Tower, the tallest structure in the world at the time, was designed to impress with the very latest in engineering... Gare d'Orsay, opened in 1900, was the first station built for electric trains.
Art Nouveau architecture is found all over Paris today... many of their entrances were designed in Hector Guimard's iconic style, with elegant cast-iron railings.
