Books laced with arsenic removed from French national library
Briefly

The National Library of France has now quarantined these books for analysis to determine the level of arsenic in the covers.
Melissa Tedone mentioned that emerald green was a popular colorant in Victorian-era book bindings and posed health risks, including arsenic in some cases.
In 2019, Tedone found that over 10% of tested books contained arsenic-laced emerald green, highlighting a significant health risk for librarians.
