A Rose Diary - The Paris Review
Briefly

Last year I planted five rosebushes. It took a few days because the ground is hard where I live and full of bluestone and rocks.
Now these bushes are more established and it is their second year. With established roots come more frequent and beautiful blooms.
All of the rose experts agree that pruning helps conserve energy and produces healthy and strong shoots for the bushes.
This year I would never plant a hybrid tea rose. I know now that hybrid tea roses are problematic in my region.
