The head of Myanmar's military junta, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, is accused of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court due to his role in violence against the Rohingya.
Prosecutor Karim Khan announced an arrest warrant for Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, stating that more warrants for top Myanmar officials will follow as they are implicated in widespread human rights abuses.
Since the military coup in 2021, Myanmar has experienced severe violence with over 5,000 civilians killed, more than three million displaced, and critical human rights violations reported.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the former civilian leader, has been sentenced to decades in prison under politically motivated charges, while the military regime continues to violently suppress dissent.
