A large fire broke out at a nuclear submarine plant in northwestern England early Wednesday morning, leading to two hospitalizations for smoke inhalation but no nuclear risk.
Emergency workers responded quickly to the incident at the BAE Systems plant in Barrow-in-Furness, where firefighters were expected to remain on site into the evening.
BAE Systems has assured that all its workers were accounted for and that the two employees treated for smoke inhalation were released by 9 a.m.
The police have advised local residents to keep their windows and doors shut during the emergency as they manage the situation and assess the cause of the fire.
